Abstract

1315162 Griddles ETUD SARL 7 Oct 1970 [16 Oct 1969 21 July 1970] 47606/70 Heading A4D A griddle comprises a pair of complimentary metallic plates, one plate being mounted for movement towards and away from the other plate, the nearer positions of the two plates being a heating position in which the plates lie against each other in heat transmitting relationship. The plates are heated then moved apart and a piece of food held between them and cooked by the heat stored in the plate. In Fig. 1 lower rectangular aluminium alloy plate 10 is adapted to stand over a burner. Upper plate 16 is mounted on a tubular support 13 and has a heat resisting handle 15 by which it may be moved apart from lower plate 10. A locking arrangement in handle 15 comprises a spring-loaded disc 14 operated by button 18. The confronting faces of the plates may be corrugated. A resin handle 21 is provided for carrying the griddle. In one embodiment an electric resistance heater controlled by a thermostat may be provided in the lower plate. In another embodiment the two plates are hinged together and are provided with a thermally insulating cover.
