1314997 Aryl-sulphones LOVENS KEMISKE FABRIK PRODUKTIONS AS 18 June 1971 [18 June 1970] 29741/70 Heading C2C Novel componds (I) (including salts and esters thereof) where R 1 is H, an optionally substituted C 3-8 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical or a mononuclear-aromatically or -heterocyclically substituted methyl or ethyl radical, R 2 is C 1-3 alkyl, R 3 is optionally substituted phenyl and C=Z signifies CO or CH 2 , are made by standard methods utilizing compounds (IIIa), (IIIb), (IVa) and (IVb); compounds (I) wherein R 1 is H can be alkylated to give other compounds (I). The following compounds are also prepared: 4 - acetamido - 2 - chloro - 5 - nitro - benzoylchloride, N - acetyl - 4 - benzoyl - 5 - chloro - 2- nitroaniline, 4 - benzoyl - 5 - chloro - 2 - nitroaniline, 4 - benzoyl - 5 - chloro - 2 - nitrobenzonitrile, 4 - benzoyl - 5 - chloro - 2 - nitrobenzoic acid, 4 - benzoyl - 5 - methylthio - 2 - nitrobenzoic acid, ethyl - 4 - benzoyl - 3,5 - dinitrobenzoate and its free acid (the free acid is converted into the pyridinium salt), 4-carbethozy-2,6-dinitrobenzoyl chloride, 5 - amino - 4 - benzoyl - 3 - nitrobenzoic acid, 4 - benzoyl - 5 - chlorosulphonyl- 3 - nitrobenzoic acid, monosodium salt of 4 - benzoyl - 3 - nitro - 5 - sulphinobenzoic acid, methyl 4 - benzoyl - 5 - methylsulphonyl - 3 - nitrobenzoate, 4 - benzoyl - 5- methylthio - 3 - nitrobenzoic acid and 3 - acetamino - 4 - benzyl - 5- methylsulphonylbenzoic acid. Pharmaceutical preparations showing diuretic and saluretic activity contain (I) as active ingredient; administration may be orally, enterally or parenterally.
