Abstract
1314961 Drawer guides INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 4 Jan 1971 [9 Jan 1970] 256/71 Heading A4B A drawer or chassis 5 is supported at each side in a housing 4 by a telescopic guide 1-3 which is extensible from two opposite sides of the housing 4, each guide comprising an outer rail 1 secured to the housing 4, on inner rail 3 secured to the chassis 5 and a centre rail 2 provided at each end with a movably mounted stop 6a, 6b, the arrangement being such, in an extended position of the guide in either direction, one or other of the stops 6a, 6h is constrained by the outer rail 1 to adopt a position in which it acts as a stop for the inner rail 3 upon subsequent telescoping. As shown, the stops 5 comprise spheres held captive in holes in the centre rail 2 but being laterally displaceable in the axial direction of the holes. In other embodiments Figs.9, 10, 11a (not shown) the stops may each comprise a cylinder (9) displaceable transversely of its axis, a cylindrical pin (10) with rounded ends and movable in the direction of its axis, or a triangular prism (11). In a further embodiment Figs.12a, 12b (not shown) the stops (12a, 12h) may be L-shaped and pivoted to the ends of the centre rail 2. The extended length of the guide is limited in known manner by stops in the paths of the rails.
