Abstract

1314827 Coated sheet material GEVAERTAGFA NV 15 July 1970 [7 Aug 1969] 39575/69 Heading B2E The formation of condensation mist on a surface of a transparent polyester sheet is inhibited by application to the surface of a layer comprising cellulose triacetate and subsequently applying a layer of a polyvinyl alcohol. The cellulose triacetate layer may consist of 25-100% by weight of cellulose triacetate and 0-75% by weight of a soluble binding agent having adhesive properties for the polyester surface. The soluble binding agent may be a polyester of at least one phthalic acid and at least one aliphatic diol and should be soluble in chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons. A suitable polyester is polyethylene isophthalate. Alternatively, the polyester surface may be treated with a swelling agent of which numerous examples are given, such as alcohols, phenols, halogenated fatty acids, and aldehydes, before application of the cellulose triacetate layer.
