Abstract

1314462 Frequency synthesizers SPERRY RAND CORP 26 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 11315/71 Heading H3A A signal generator has a closed loop with series-connected elements comprising voltagetuned oscillator means 6, frequency mixer means 1, first frequency divider means 2, and frequency difference detector means 3, wherein there are means provided for adjusting a division modulus N of the first frequency divider means 2. The arrangement also includes second frequency divider means 4, including means for adjusting a division modulus X thereof, for supplying an input to the frequency difference detector means 3, and reference frequency source means 5 for supplying stable frequency signals to the frequency mixer means 1, and to the second frequency divider means 4, the means for adjusting the first and second frequency divider means being adapted to be operated so that the quantity N - X is an integer including zero. The output may be derived from the frequency mixer 1 via a harmonic generator 7. The frequency difference detector 3 may comprise coarse and fine means.
