Abstract

1314060 Supplying bobbins to machines MAREMONT CORP 11 Sept 1970 [15 Oct 1969] 43610/70 Heading D1F Apparatus removing empty, tapered or untapered bobbin tubes from a hopper and feeding them singly in oriented manner through a chute, thence onto a conveyor for supplying a textile machine, constitutes a modified form of feed mechanism described in Specification No. 1286041. As shown a box of tubes T is upended or has a removable bottom opened and is retained by walls 13, 13', to form the hopper. Tubes roll down flanges 14, 16, so that four or more are presented to the convex or concave surface of a feed cradle 18 located beneath and spaced from leading edges 15, 17 of the flanges. Each traversing pivotal movement of the cradle transfers a single tube T, previously guided by contact strips 30, 32, 31, 33, into a slot defined by leading edges 21, 23, and there supported by a retaining plate 20, to a discharge position whereat the tube is allowed to fall in oriented manner through a chute 25 into a cage 27 for subsequent pivoting to enable loading in axially vertical orientation onto conveyor 29. A plate 19 acts as a guide track to retain each untapered tube in slat 21, 23, up to its position of discharge and, by means of camming edges 19', 19", to shift axially each tapered tube to a position which ensures oriented i.e. large end leading, discharge into chute 25.
