1313573 Fuel injection pumps L'ORANGE EINSPRITZGERAETE K G 29 July 1970 36630/70 Heading F1A In a multi-outlet fuel injection pump having a reciprocable and rotable piston 2 provided with a longitudinal groove 3 which connects the pumping chamber 8 in turn to each outlet (dashed lines), a control piston 10 extends into a longitudinal bore 4 in the piston 2 and is axially adjustable to control delivery. Thus each time a bore 5 in the piston 2 aligns with a groove 11 in the control piston 10, delivery is terminated since fuel is spilled to an inlet chamber 7 through the groove 3 and bores 13, 12, 6. Fuel enters the pumping chamber 8 through the groove 3 when it connects to the suction chamber 7. The control piston is manually or hydraulically adjustable. As shown, the adjustment is automatically caused by fuel pumped from an auxiliary chamber 15 by a piston extension 14. Fuel is supplied to a passage 19 and attains a pressure dependent on the pump speed and the setting of a throttle 23 in a discharge passage 18. The pressure in the passage 19 acting on the end 21 of the piston 10 determines the amount of compression of a spring 22 and thereby the axial position of the control piston.
