Abstract
131,350. Soc. Anon. des Etablissements Delaunay-Belleville. March 20, 1916, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to gas-operated guns of the kind in which co-axial opening and closing springs are simultaneously compressed in the same direction by the movement of a gas-piston. According to the invention, the piston moves forwards to compress the springs, so that the forces acting' during the discharge tend to keep the breech closed. In the construction shown, the piston 4 is driven forwards by the gases thereby compressing the opening-spring 9 and the closing-spring 10, which are arranged co-axially on the piston-rod 5, C. At the end of the forward movement, the piston-rod is coupled by means of a pawl 19, Fig. 2, to a sliding tube 12 connected to the bolt-operating sleeve 15. When the gas pressure drops, the opening- spring 9 reacts and drives back the piston-rod 5, 6 and the tube 12 thus opening the breech. The pawl 19 is then disengaged by meeting an inclined surface 22 on a stationary guide rod 13, and the closing spring, acting on a bracket 7 integral with the sliding tube 12, closes the breech. Specifications 137,642 and 131,042 are referred to.
