1313425 Fishing reels ETABS CARPANO & PONS 15 May 1970 [29 May 1969] 23784/70 Heading A1A A fishing reel comprises a frame 1 for mounting on a fishing reel, a line spool 3 mounted for axial reciprocation only on the frame 1, a drum 2 rotatably mounted on the frame 1, a manual line pick-up member in the form of a roller 32 mounted on an arm attached to the drum 2, and there being means for locking the drum and pick-up members in a chosen position before casting, said means comprising a lever 27 pivotally mounted at 24 on the drum 2 whose inner end 27d is engageable, when in the position shown in full lines in Fig. 1 with teeth 19a in a toothed crown 19 mounted in the interior of the drum 2 and being maintained in that position by means of a spring 28, said crown 19 (and thus the drum 2) being prevented from rotation either by inertia when the fisherman casts or when the fisherman lightly touches the pick-up member by means of a friction spring 20 which works by rubbing on the inside surface of the crown 19. When it is desired to rewind the line the braking effect is cancelled by manual winding of the drum 2 against the braking effect by means of a crank handle (not shown), until the inner end 27d of the lever 27 is displaced by a ramp 22 which causes the lever 27 to pivot to the position shown in dotted lines in which it is maintanied by means of spring 28 which is displaced to position 28a.
