Abstract

1313283 Endless chain conveyers G BOWER 4 Feb 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 5036/71 Heading B8A Endless chains 10, 10, each arranged with upper and lower runs (upper run only shown), carry a member 14 having an outwardly spring- urged plunger 18 which normally engages a recess 21 in a member 19 of a load carrier 11 which runs on a pair of rails 13, 13. The arrangement is such that when work needs to be performed on a workpiece on carrier 11, the latter can be stopped while the chains 10, 10, continue their movement. In order that the carriages 11 will not drop off the chain under the force of gravity when passing around the end sprockets (not shown) on to the lower run, each plunger 16 carries a pin 22. This is prevented from inward movement by the side of the sprocket, and so prevents release of the carriages during passage of the carriages around the sprockets.
