1313211 Linear motors KIEVSKY ZAVOD ELEKTROTRANSPORTA IMENT F E DZERZHINSKOGO 2 June 1970 26491/70 Heading H2A In a linear induction motor comprising wound stator members 1 disposed on opposite sides of a reaction rail 3 and adapted to be displaced perpendicular to the direction of relative motion between them and the rail to control the speed of the motor, a laminated, auxiliary magnetic core 5 is positioned above the rail and intermediate the members 1 to provide a path for the stator flux as the members 1 are displaced. As shown, the members 1 are actuated by an electrically driven mechanism 6 and the core 5 extends beyond the members 1 lengthwise so as to be engaged by rollers (9) carried by the members 1 and normally engaging the rail 3 to maintain the air gaps 8 constant.
