1313158 Storing moisture-sensitive objects DROOGTECHNIEK EN LUCHTBEHANDELING NV 20 Nov 1970 55280/70 Heading F4G Moisture-sensitive objects (e.g. welding electrodes or photographic material) are stored in the storage space of a cabinet 1 containing silica gel elements (for maintaining a dry atmosphere in the storage space) and electrical heating elements (for driving off moisture from the elements), moisture driven off from the elements being prevented from entering the storage space. In Fig. 1, the silica gel elements comprise perforated cartridges 6 which are removed when moist from supports 5 on the cabinet door 2 and placed in a recess 7 containing electrical heating elements 8 and sub-divided at 9. Insertion of a cartridge 6 into the recess 7 automatically switches on the heating current. The recess 7 may have a perforated lid. In another embodiment, air is drawn from the storage space by a blower, passed through or along a fixed silica gel holder and returned to the storage space. When the absorbent material of the holder becomes moist, an electromagnetic valve is operated by a humidity detector or a timer so that the blower circulates atmospheric air through the holder while the heating element is energized. Alternatively, circulation may be by natural convection. Two holders may be employed alternately, one holder being dried while the other dries the air in the storage space. The welding electrodes may be transported in a portable carrier having a cartridge 6 in its lid.
