Abstract

1313157 Drying grass or lucerne BP CHEMICALS Ltd 1 Sept 1971 [19 Nov 1970] 54999/ 70 Headings A1F and A2D A process for drying grass or lucerne comprises treating it with a carboxylic acid having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms in the molecule, followed by drying the treated crop artificially. The grass or lucerne, has its water content reduced below 50% by weight. The carboxylic acid, which may be propionic acid, could be applied at a rate of 0.1% to 1% weight to weight based on the undried crop, with flavouring or colouring also being added.
