Abstract

1312617 Leak testing apparatus IMPERIAL SMELTING CORP (N S C) Ltd 6 Nov 1970 [11 Sept 1969] 44888/69 Heading G1S A container 1 having a window 2 is partly filled with fluorocarbon liquid heated to 120‹-130‹C. by a heater 10 and circulatedaroundthe container through upper holes 9 in a partition 8, so that articles placed in a cage 5 may be observed by light from a lamp 7 to determine whether bubbles are leaking from the articles. The cage slides vertically in guides 11 and the top of the container is provided with rubber sealing flaps 6. The cage may incorporate means for turning the articles over during test and indicator or press buttons may be provided to indicate which articles leak. The articles may be passed continuously through the bath and marked or automatically rejected and bubble detecting systems may be used as well as pump and filtration units and drying devices. The container may contain cooling means in that part not having the heater 10 and that face of the dividing wall 8 facing the window is painted a matt black to assist in bubble detection.
