Abstract
1312346 Coated glass bricks COMPAGNIE DE SAINT-GOBAIN 2 June 1970 [2 June 1969] 26585/70 Heading B2E A hollow glass brick having baked onto at least one external face a coating not exceeding 300 millimicrons in thickness of one or more oxides of the metals Fe, Ni, Co, Cr, Mn, Cu, Pb, Zn, V, Zr, Bi, Sb, La, In or Ce is made by spraying a solution of one or more metal salts onto the face of the brick while it is maintained at a temperature of 500-600‹C. The coating preferably contains at least 10% wt of chromium oxide. The optical thickness of the coating (i.e. geometrical thickness x refractive index) should preferably not exceed 400 millimicrons. Two half-bricks may be welded together to form the hollow brick and the external faces are then coated. In the examples, coatings of (1) CO 3 O 4 , NcO and Cr 2 O 3 and (2) Fe 2 O 3 and Cr 2 O 3 are applied.
