Abstract

1312013 Lead accumulators ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 20109/71 Heading H1B In a gas-tight lead accumulator, each plate assembly 2 has its components (plane electrodes, and either separators and/or electrolyte carriers) maintained in contact by means of convex electrolyte-resistant springs 6 (e.g. polystyrene) which abut the inner surface of the plastics case 1 and the outer electrode 5 of the plates. The springs may be perforated 7 and/or ridged to promote gas movement and may be formed integrally with the case (Fig. 3) or as separate curved leaf or plate springs. The case wall may be reinforced by a metal plate formed integrally with the case or inserted in a slot within the case wall (Fig. 4, not shown). This plate may be profiled or perforated. Fig. 2 shows an alternative arrangement using one spring per plate assembly.
