Abstract

1311887 Boots &c ROTARY PLASTICS Ltd 22 May 1970 [26 Feb 1970] 9404/70 Heading A3B [Also in Division B5] A one piece upper and sole is formed by rotational casting of P.V.C. After moulding, material is removed to provide the top opening. The mould is made by coating a shoe or pattern with graphite or other conductive material, depositing nickel and copper electrolytically and burning out the pattern. The pattern may have been filled with wax, to retain its shape. The metal mould is made of different thicknesses by adding metal foil or by spray coating, and this determines the loss of heat and the gelling of the P.V.C. to give different thicknesses in the footwear, e.g. at the toe and heel part. An integral sole and heel which may be made by injection moulding may be moulded on to the rotationally cast upper and sole or adhesively attached thereto.
