Abstract

1311388 Stabilizing polyolefins CIBAGEIGY AG 19 April 1971 [27 Feb 1970] 24373/71 Heading C3P Polyolefins are light stabilized by addition of 0À05% to 0À8% by weight of unstabilized material of a compound of general formula and 0À05% to 0À8% of a compound of formula wherein R 1 is H, methyl, tert.-butyl, or tert.- amyl and R 2 is methyl, tert.-butyl, tert.-amyl or tert.-octyl, the groups R 1 and R 2 together containing at least 5 carbon atoms, the total amount of the above additives being 0À2% to 1À2% by weight of unstabilized material. The polyolefins include the homo- and co-polymers of ethylene, propylene, 1-butene, methylpentene-1 and isobutylene Other additives include antioxidants, U.V. absorbers, metal de-activators, nucleating agents, peroxide decomposers, softeners, antistatic agents, flameproofing agents, pigments, soot and inorganic fillers. The examples describe stabilizing polypropylene.
