1311244 Alkali metal 3,5-bis (#-hydroxyethoxycarbonyl) benzene sulphonates CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED 19 April 1971 [12 March 1970] 23976/71 Heading C2C Alkali metal 3,5-bis-(#-hydroxyethoxycarbonyl) benzene sulphonates are obtained by esterifying alkali metal 3,5-dicarboxybenzene sulphonates with ethylene glycol at an elevated temperature in the presence of a catalyst and a base. Specified catalysts are compounds of Zn, Ca, Mn or Co. Specified bases are trialkylamines, pyridine bases and NH 3 . Examples are given for the production of the compounds.
