Abstract

1310774 Wheel rim TSENTRALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKO - TEKHNOLOGICHESKOE BJURO KOLESNOGO PROIZVODSTVA 5 Aug 1971 36740/71 Heading B7C A wheel rim 1 for a pneumatic tyre comprises removable tyre bead retaining flanges 3, 4 at its axially opposed ends and tyre bead seating surfaces 12 adjoining the flanges, the bead seating surfaces being made in the form of continuous circumferential convex projections 11 extending radially outwardly from the rim base 2, the slope 14 of each projection 11 in the direction of the adjacent bead retaining flange terminating in a recess 15. The bead retaining flange 3 engages a lip 5 at one end of the rim and the flange 4 bears on a split look ring 6 which in turn engages a lip 7 at the other end of the rim. A well 19 is provided in the rim. The rim is intended to be used with tyres having two bead cores 9, 10, in each bead region the radially outermost points of the projections 12 being located between the cores 9 and 10 and the heels 16 of the beads being located in the recesses 15, the tyre thus being securely held on the rim such that if a reduction in its inflation pressure occurs the beads do not move from their seating surfaces.
