Abstract

1310614 Carbonyl compounds VYSKUMNY USTAV PRE PETROCHEMIU 7 May 1970 [23 May 1969 1 Aug 1969] 22012/70 Heading C2C Saturated and/or unsaturated C 3-8 carbonyl compounds are prepared by passing a feed containing a vaporous C 3-4 ketone and/or a vaporous C 1-6 aldehyde with a carrier gas at 150-450‹ C. over a catalyst comprising (a) a substance selected from Cu and Ni and their oxides and (b) a substance selected from ionexchanging substances and oxides of Cr, Ca, Ba and Zn. H 2 and N 3 are specified carrier gases. In examples: mesityl oxide, isomesityl oxide, methyl-isobutyl ketone, diisobutyl ketone together with methylisobutylcarbinol and isopropyl alcohol are obtained from acetone; crotonaldehyde and n-butyraldehyde from acetaldehyde; and crotonaldehyde, n-butyraldehyde and propionaldehyde from a mixture of acetaldehyde and formaldehyde.
