Abstract
1310250 Floor and baseboard cleaning machines R I DEMERCADO 20 July 1970 35107/70 Heading A4F [Also in Division B3] A floor and baseboard scrubbing machine comprises a floor scrubbing brush or pad mounted beneath and at the sides of a frame on two separate supporting means, and driving means for moving each supporting means relative to the other. In the illustrated embodiment an electric motor 10 drives a crank-shaft 100 having cranks 126, 128 engaging in elongated openings in supporting members 168, 178 on which a floor cleaning brush 80 and two side brushes 82, 84 are pivotally mounted to be moved orbitally by the crank mechanism. The motor 10 is secured to a mounting plate 13 to which handle bars 54 are pivotally connected and which is rotatably adjustable relatively to a plate 14 secured to a frame wall 3 so that the angular position of the handle bars 54 relative to the frame may be set as desired. A pin 50 Fig. VIII, (not shown) passing through the plate 13 and a selected one of a number of apertures 20 in the plate 14 holds the handle bars 54 in their adjusted position, and is withdrawn from the plates 13, 14 when adjustment is desired, by a cable (38) operated by a lever 66 adjacent the handle grips 60. Detergent liquid is supplied from a container 214 via control valves 220, flexible tubes 222, and rows of nozzles 228 to the brushes 82, 84, splash guards 230 covering the upper ends of the brushes 82, 84 can each be pivoted upwardly to allow the brush 82 or 84 to engage a skirting board. The scrubbing pads may be abrasive.
