Abstract

1308302 Treating timber GALLWEY CHEMICAL CO Ltd 25 March 1970 [26 March 1969 11 July 1969] 15901/69 and 35122/ 69 Heading D1P A method of, and apparatus for, treating timber comprises either immersing the timber in a bath of preservative, the timber being weighted to overcome its buoyancy, and subsequently removing the timber or the preservative from the bath, or securing the timber in an empty bath and filling the bath with preservative from a storage tank and removing the preservative from the treatment bath after a selected length of time, the time for which the preservative is contact with the timber being controlled automatically. In the embodiment shown, timber to be treated is secured in a treatment bath 1 when empty, the treatment bath 1 then being filled with preservative liquid pumped from a storage tank 2 by a pump 3. The length of time the preservative liquid remains in the treatment bath 1 is controlled by a timer 10, the timer operating a valve 4 at the end of the cycle to return the preservative liquid to the storage tank 2. Finally the timber is removed from the treatment bath 1.
