Abstract

1307887 Brushes SUNBEAM CORP 12 May 1970 [13 May 1969 29 Oct 1969] 23009/70 Heading A4K [Also in Divisions H1 and H2] In a battery operated toothbrush, an orbital motion is transmitted to the tips of the bristles of the toothbrush head by reciprocation and oscillation of the shaft 27 on which the head is mounted. The shaft 27 is connected to a crank-pin 103 by a forked arm 81 which extends at an oblique angle to the axis of the shaft, between the shaft and the pin, said crank-pin being integral with a member 100 mounted on a shaft 99 which is rotated by the moter 39 through reduction gearing. The motor is energized by a switch which comprises two parallel spaced contact blades 117, 118 which are pushed into contact by depression of an external lever 136 which forces a finger 145 connected to the lever into an opening 22 thereby deflecting contact 118 into engagement with contact 117.
