Abstract

1307853 Filter press plates DAVID MOSELEY & SONS Ltd 6 July 1970 [9 July 1969] 34497/69 Heading BID A filter press plate 61 comprises a moulded body with two opposed recesses, the floor of one being provided with projections 61d, 61e and the other being bridged by an inflatable membrane 62 whose outer surface is ribbed at 62a. Two sheets of filter medium 64 are located between each pair of plates to define therebetween a chamber 65 into which slurry is pumped via ports (61k) in one corner of the plates (Fig. 7, not shown), filtrate passing through medium 64 and via passages 61h and 62b into grooves 61g, 62c in the plate and membrane and thence into aligned ports 61j. Air or water is pumped into chambers 63 via ports (61l) and passages (61m) (Fig. 9, not shown), to inflate the membranes and squeeze the filter cake. The plate and membrane may be made of a large number of materials exemplified; the illustrated plate is rubber and reinforced by sheet 61c.
