Abstract

1307234 Tool for removing annular members, e,g. from shafts T H MILBOURN 22 July 1970 [24 July 1969] 37210/69 Heading B4C A tool for removing an annular member from a secured position, e.g. from a shaft, comprises a plurality of substantially parallel rods 1, each having a hook 1a at one end and a portion 1b at the other end engageable by a pin 4b carried by a member 4. Each rod is mounted in member 2 for rotation about its axis by appropriate rotary movement of the member 4 relative to the member 2 so that the hooks 1a can be moved from the orientation of Fig. 2 to extend radially inwardly or radially outwardly in order to engage behind an annular member. Subsequent movement of the rods in direction A effects removal of the annular member from its secured position. When removing a member from a shaft a screw-threaded bolt 5 received within a bore in the member 2 engages one end of the shaft. In use the tool is adjusted until the hooked ends of the rods extend over the annular member on the shaft. Rotation of the member 4 then causes the rods to rotate about their respective axes so that the hooks 1a are positioned behind the annular member. The bolt 5 is then rotated so as to move the annular member towards the end of the shaft. To facilitate use the parts 4c and 2b may be of hexagonal section. Member 3 is rigidly secured to the member 2 or may be integral therewith.
