Abstract
1306544 Hardening photographic gelatine layers AGFA - GEVAERT AG 22 April 1970 [26 April 1969] 19251/70 Heading G2C [Also in Division C3 A process of hardening photographic gelatine layers comprises adding a hardener to the layer and drying the layer, in which the hardener is a polymer which in a side chain contains a triazinyl ring which is substituted with chlorine or bromine atoms in the 2 - position and with chlorine or bromine atoms or alkoxy or phenoxy groups in the 4 - position. The hardener preferably has the formula: wherein R represents a methine group or a-c(CH 3 ) group within a polymer chain, X is a simple'chemical bond or an organic bridge member, X<SP>1</SP> is chlorine or bromine and X<SP>2</SP> is chlorine, bromine, alkoxy or phenoxy. The hardener may be a homo- or copolymer of acryloyloxyethylaminodichlorotriazine, methacryloyloxyethylaminodichlorotriazine, methacryloyloxyethylaminoethoxychlorotriazine, crotonyloxyethylaminodichlorotriazine or fumarryl-bis-oxyethylaminodichlorotriazine which contain at least 5% by weight of the triazinyl component. These hardeners are fast to diffusion and can therefore be used to harden specific layers.
