Abstract

1306306 Valves GUSTAV OSPELT HOVALWERK AG 8 Oct 1971 [9 Oct 1970] 47041/71 Heading F2V A hot water ring conduit is provided with a pump and a non-return valve which closes, when the pump is shut off, to prevent movement of water under the action of thermosiphon force, the valve comprising a plate 6 mounted with sealing rings 5 in a connection between two pipes 10, in which the plate is provided with a passage opening 7 which forms a valve seating closable by a ball 8 and with a cage 9 which restricts the movement of the ball. In a vertical pipe the valve is loaded by the weight of the ball or in a horizontal section a spring is included, as shown in Fig. 2, between the cage and the ball. The plate is made potshaped to guide the ball on to the valve seating. The ball may be made of non-rusting metal, hotwater-resistant rubber or plastics material. The plate may be made of non-rusting metal e.g. sheet brass.
