Abstract

1306231 Laminates DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 12 Oct 1970 [24 Oct 1969] 52271/69 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Laminates are prepared from uni-directional carbon fibre sheets impregnated with a matrix material comprising a substantially uncured epoxy resin (I), a latent hardener (II) for I and a polysulphone resin (III). The composition may comprise 100 parts by wt. of I, 5-20 parts II and 10-70 parts of III. I may be a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A, II may be a BF 3 /amine complex and III may comprise units The fibres may be impregnated using the above composition in a solvent. In an example (2) a multi-ply laminate was prepared and cured in a matched die mould for 30 minutes at 165‹ C. followed by a post cure of 1 hour at 180‹ C. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,169,613.
