Abstract

1306157 Bar stock feeding tubes PRODUCTION ENG RESEARCH ASSOCIATION 15 June 1971 [30 May 1970] 26207/70 Heading B3B A bar stock guiding and supporting tube for a lathe comprises a pair of concentric tubular members 9, 10 with an annular space therebetween, the space being filled with a sound damping material 11 to reduce the noise created when bar stock is rotated in the tape when being operated on in the lathe. The inner tube may be perforated. The sound damping material may be foam rubber, foam plastic material, mineral wool fibre, or combinations of high and low density powder. The tube may be formed with a longitudinal slot, Fig. 3, for use in bar stock machines having a feed finger. The inner tube member may be laminated. The tube may be formed using a-press brake (Fig. 4, not shown).
