Abstract

1305659 Crash restraint bag NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 27 April 1971 [4 May 1970] 11533/71 Heading B7B A crash restraint bag 11, inflatable by pressurized gas, consists of an impervious flexible layer 19 and a flexible outer layer 20 which gives mechanical strength to the inner layer. The inner layer may be a synthetic leather, rubber or, a suitable plastics material, and the outer layer may be a synthetic fibre cloth. This construction ensures that the bag is not ripped or bust during initial inflation, whilst retaining the necessary impervious, passenger cushioning and easily foldable characteristics. The pressurized inflating gas may be provided from a gas cylinder 17 or by rapid combustion of means 16 which produce gases on collision.
