1305423 Photographic direct-positive silver halide emulsion preparation MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 9 March 1970 [11 March 1969] 11231/70 Heading G2C A photographic silver halide direct positive emulsion is prepared by treating the silver halide during its precipitation to form an emulsion with an aldehyde having more than one carbon atom or a bisulphite derivative thereof or a ketone. The aldehyde may contain a halogen or hydroxyl substituent. The aldehyde of ketone may be glycol aldehyde, glyceraldehyde, acetaldehyde, acetaldol, pynivaldehyde, ribose, glyoxal, glutaraldehyde, bisulphite-glutaraldehyde complex, benzaldehyde, salicylaldehyde, phloroglucinaldehyde, acetone, monochloroacetone, acetylacetone, sorbose, phenylacetone, benzophenone or 2, 3-butandione. The aldehyde or ketone acts as a solarising agent.
