1305159 Toy construction sets O SCHIMDT 16 Nov 1971 [17 Nov 1970 21 Oct 1971] 53140/71 Heading A6S A toy construction set includes a bar 1, Fig. 1, of modular type, having notches 2,2' along its longer edges of a width equal to its thickness and of a depth one-quarter of its width, a transyerse slot 3 along the lengthwise axis having a width at one or more points equal to half the width of the bar and of a length and shape to permit the insertion and rotation through 90 degrees of another like bar 1' (see Fig. 5) to engage its notches 2, &c with the first bar, and circular holes 4,4' of diameter half the width of the bar and having their centres spaced from the ends of the bar by a distance also equal to half the width of the bar. Two such bars 1,1' may be connected at their ends by resilient snap fasteners 5a, Fig. 2, having studs 6,6 projecting to one side only, or fasteners 5b, Fig. 4, having studs 6, 6' projecting in opposite direction. Additional bars (1"), Fig. 6 (not shown) may be inserted in the slot 3 parallel to the bar 1'. Modified connecting flat bars (7-12), Figs. 7-12 (not shown), having notches; notches and holes; or notches, holes and slots, all dimensioned on the common module, may be used in combination with the bar. Further modified connecting flat bars, having rounded ends and two or more holes, Figs. 13-15 and 17 (not shown), may also be used in combination with the bar. Another such connecting flat bar has five holes (21), Fig. 16 (not shown) and is of irregular octagonal shape. The element may be used with rods, tubes, axles, shafts, ground-engaging or toothed wheels, or used as a sleeper in a track.
