1305138 Quinoxaline- and benzimidazole-N- oxides RESEARCH CORP 18 Feb 1970 42961/70 Heading C2C The invention comprises (1) compounds of the formula wherein X is lower alkyl (other than methyl), lower alkoxy (other than methoxy), halogen (other than C1 or F) or lower alkanoyl; R is lower alkyl, Y is H or carbo (lower) alkoxy; (2) compounds of the formula wherein X and R are each as defined in (1); (3) compounds of the formula wherein X is CF 3 , R is lower alkyl, and R 3 is lower alkyl; (4) compounds of formula III wherein X is H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, CF 3 or lower alkanoyl, R is lower alkyl and R 3 is carbo (lower) alkoxy; (5) compounds of the formula wherein X is as defined in (4), and each of R 1 and R 2 is H or lower alkyl; (6) compounds of the formula wherein X is as defined in (4), and R<SP>1</SP> is alkenyl, alkynyl or alicyclic; (7) compounds of Formula V, wherein X is as defined in (1), and R<SP>1</SP> is substituted alkyl or carbo (lower) alkoxy; and (8) compounds of the formula wherein X is H or is as defined in (1), each of R 4 and R 5 is alkyl (other than methyl or ethyl), alkenyl, alkynyl, substituted alkyl (other than substituted methyl or ethyl) or R 4 and R 5 when taken together with the C atom to which they are attached are alicyclic (other than cyclohexyl). These compounds may be prepared by the general method disclosed in Specification 1,215,815. Examples are given which illustrate this general method, but do not all fall within the classes of compounds defined above.
