1304812 Pyrimidines LONZA Ltd 26 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 11468/71 Heading C2C Compounds of formula in which R is hydrogen, C 1-17 -alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl or cycloalkyl, each R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen or halogen, at least one R<SP>1</SP> being halogen, and R<SP>11</SP> is hydrogen, halogen or alkyl, are prepared by reaction of a haloacetoacetic acid reactive derivative with an amidine RC(NH 2 )=NH in the presence of an alkali metal alcoholate. The products are insecticides or insecticide intermediates.
