1304469 Windscreen wipers SWF SPEZIALFABRIK FUR AUTOZUBEHOER GUSTAV RAU GmbH 20 Nov 1970 [21 Nov 1969] 55215/70 Heading A4F In a windscreen wiper assembly having a wiper blade wiping a rectangular area of the windscreen the blade (not shown) is secured to a holder 15 rotatably mounted on an arm 16 rotatably mounted on an end of an arcuately movable wiper arm 21, and relative movement between a drag lever 20, Fig. 1 (not shown), and the wiper arm 21 causes rotation of the arm 16 so that the wiper blade holder 15 moves in a straight line, and also causes rotation of the holder 15 so that the wiper blade is maintained perpendicular to its direction of movement. The movement of the drag lever is transmitted via a toothed rocker arm 23 which rotates a double gear wheel 19 meshing with a gear ring on a sleeve 12 secured to the arm 16, whereby the latter rotates so that the blade holder 15 moves horizontally. A gear wheel 18 rigid with the bearing pin 28 carrying the sleeve 12, moves arcuately with the wiper arm 21 to drive a chain 17 and gear wheel 14 to rotate the blade holder 15 to maintain the wiper blade vertical.
