Abstract

1304338 Photographic shutters and diaphragms FRANKE & HEIDECKE GmbH [trading as ROLLEIWERKE FRANKE & HEIDECKE] 11 June 1971 [26 June 1970 22 April 1971] 27556/71 Heading G2A Shutter or diaphragm blades are connected to an electromagnet blade drive mechanism which includes a magnetic assembly comprising a hollow cylindrical member 1 closed at one end and a cylindrical core member 2 located within the cylindrical member to define a gap 5 therebetween and a cylindrical coil 4 which is movable coaxially with the core 2 in the gap 5, the cylindrical member having at least a part of its internal diameter substantially identical to the external diameter of the coil and the over-all axial length of the coil corresponding to the depth of the cylindrical member and to the length of movement of the coil. The core 2 consists of a permanent magnet. Preferably the drive has two coils 4, 7 and two pot-shaped magnets 1, 6, the first system drives in direction A whilst the second drives in direction B. The coils are interconnected by a ring 8 which is coupled to a blade ring 11 via a pin and slot coupling 9, 10. The blades may be directly coupled to the pin 10, Fig. 3, (not shown). The blades may move in a rectilinear direction, Fig. 4 (not shown). In a further embodiment, Fig. 5, (not shown), the axis of the coil and the pot-shaped magnet follows a circular path about the axis of a blade which is rigidly coupledto the coil. At the end of the opening stroke, the coil structure may engage resilient members which store the kinetic energy of the mechanism and assist in obtaining short exposure times. The drive mechanism may be mechanically prestressed to the open position and by regulating the current through the coil a pre-selected aperture may be obtained via an exposure regulating device or a manual device.
