Abstract

1303827 Switching systems for consuming devices SYRACUSE ELECTRONICS CORP 28 April 1970 20416/70 Heading H2H [Also in Division H3] A delayed on-make A.C. switch comprises a thyristor 40 connected across the output diagonal of a rectifier bridge and having its gate connected through a limiting resistor 48 to a time delay trigger circuit comprising a programmable unijunction transistor 52 connected to potentiometer 56, 58 and a timing circuit 44, 46. The thyristor is thus switched on when the capacitor 46 changes to the value set by the potentiometer. A capacitor 50 ensures that the thyristor remains conductive in succeeding half-cycles and capacitors 38 and 54 present false triggering by line noise. The circuit may feed a relay, a motor or a heater with A.C. or D.C. current.
