Abstract

1303814 Sheathed heating resistors HOOVER Ltd 20 May 1970 [23 May 1969] 26481/69 Heading H5H The packing insulation of a metal sheathed heating element is at least partially impregnated with silicone oil to inhibit the ingress of moisture or the effect of moisture on the insulating properties of the insulation, the oil being introduced into the sheath under a pressure of 4000 p.s.i. The element is die-cast in a smoothing iron or frying pan, and a jig is described, Fig. 3 (not shown), for holding the element or the appliance whilst the oil is inserted under pressure. The element is heated prior to the introduction of oil and also afterwards, the latter heating assisting the dispersion of the oil through the insulation.
