Abstract
1303778 Conveyer systems M A RIKMAN and F S IOFFE 16 July 1971 [4 Nov 1970] 33513/71 Heading B7L [Also in Division B8] Loads 3 are transferred from a conveyer 1 to a conveyer 1a (or vice versa) by the action of a transfer conveyer 2. The loads 3 each have a shackle 8 for suspension from hooks 6 of the conveyers 1, la. The transfer conveyer has trolleys 14 running on rails 15 and is driven by pushers 12 of a traction chain 11 supported from rails 9. The pushers 12 coact with dogs 13 pivotally mounted on the trolleys 14. The latter carries an outwardly extending fork 16 (the jaws 23, 24 of which at the beginning of the transfer, slide into engagement with the sides of a hook 6 of the conveyer 1 (or 1a). The carriage 14 also includes a shackle lifting member 18 which is supported on a variable height cam rail 20 by a follower roller 19. Suitable inclination of the rail 20 thus causes lifting of the shackle out of engagement with the hook 6. At the point of transfer, a plate 25 (Fig. 6) cams down the dogs 13 out of engagement with the pushers 12. A recess 21 in the track surface of the cam rail 20 assists in steadying the member 18 and thus facilitates the engagement of the hook 6 in between the jaws 23, 24, of the fork 16.
