1303394 Chucks; cutter arbors; tool holders FRATELLI MORANDO & C SpA 18 June 1971 [31 July 1970] 28698/71 Headings B3B B3K and B3T A clamping device for holding a tool holder having a taper shank 5, and constructed to enable quick change of the tool holder comprises a rotatable nut 2 having an oblongprofiled through bore 2<SP>1</SP>, a coaxial fixed washer 8 having a similar bore 8<SP>1</SP> and a lever 1 to facilitate rotation of the nut 2 to enable the bores to be angularly offset relative to each other. A neck portion 4 of the shank 5 has an oblongprofiled head 4<SP>1</SP> which can pass through bores 2<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>1</SP>. A key 10 prevents rotation of the tool holder relative to the device when the tool holder is fully clamped. In operation, to remove a clamped tool holder, the lever 1 is turned to rotate nut 2 to align its bore 2<SP>1</SP> with head 4<SP>1</SP>. Simultaneously an ejector 9 presses against head 4<SP>1</SP> to urge it through bore 2<SP>1</SP>. Thus the tool holder moves outwardly relative to the device until the head 4<SP>1</SP> abuts the washer 8. Key 10 is by now dis. engaged; the tool holder is then manually rotated to align its head 4<SP>1</SP> with bore 8<SP>1</SP>, and then completely withdrawn.
