Abstract

1303248 Snap-action switches; bases and cases JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 9 July 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 40185/69 Heading H1N A lever actuated switch comprises a movable contact 26, Fig. 1, located in the casing 11 by side lugs (27), Fig. 2 (not shown), engageable in grooves 23 in the side walls of the casing and retained in position by a snapped-in base 24. In the example the lever actuator 15 is also inserted from the open side of the casing and has side lugs (17), Fig. 2 (not shown), on an enlarged portion 16 engageable in grooves 14 in a head part 12, 13. The lever carries a spring- loaded ball 22 movable over a rocking contact plate 26 which rests centrally on a terminal rivet head 25 on the base 24 and snaps overcentre to engage a fixed contact rivet head 25a on the base 24. The pivot axis of the plate 26 may be maintained parallel to the base by providing a projection (28) on the plate 26 of the same height as the rivet head 25 and engageable with the base on the line of the pivot axis.
