Abstract

1303024 Disposal of waste products K K K KROYER and DANSK SVOVLSYRE-OG SUPERPHOSPHAT FABRIK AS 19 April 1971 [21 April 1970 31 Aug 1970] 27155/71 Headings C1B and C1C A method of disposing of waste products comprises treating waste water sludge with a base (e.g. lime) to obtain a pH of 12 or above, neutralizing the base-treated sludge (e.g. with sulphuric acid-in particular waste acid containing acetic and hydrochloric acids) and mixing the neutralized product with slag or ash produced by the thermal decomposition of refuse (and optionally containing cement powder) and removing water whereby fertilizers and clarified water are obtained. NH 3 given off in the base treatment may be collected in an acid. Optionally there may be present compounds or elements suitable as fertilizers or soil-improvers, or waste products containing active carbon (e.g. soot). In an example the refuse used comprises garbage, waste rubber and waste oil. The products may be obtained as granules which may be sterilized to destroy parasite eggs, and may be used to coat NPK fertilizer granules.
