Abstract

1302985 Hoppers STILLE-WERNER AB 19 April 1971 [24 Feb 1970] 22429/71 Headings B8A and B8S [Also in Divisions B1 and B2] Comminuting apparatus, particularly for converting bales of cellulose sheets into fluff for the manufacture of absorbent pads, comprises a vertical magazine 11, Fig. 1, with an arrangement of reciprocable toothed bars 16 at the bottom. Toothed stripping plates 23, 24 prevent pulp passing out longitudinally of the bars 16. The pulp thus falls between the bars 16 into a hopper 25. The bars may be oppositely reciprocated in pairs with variable stroke and frequency by linkwork 17 driven by an electric motor 19. The magazine is opened for loading by an hydraulic cylinder 12 driven by an electric motor 19. The torn material is delivered by a conveyer 51, Fig. 2, to a hammer mill 53 and thence by further conveyers 54, 56 to a mixing hopper 57 which has a ridged belt side 60 and a movable belt bottom 59, which may also have protrusions or ridges. Material is discharged via a slot between the belts by a brush roller 61. One hopper may be provided for each pad manufacturing line.
