Abstract

1302900 Transferring articles between endless conveyers FISONS Ltd 7 April 1970 [26 April 1969] 21412/69 Heading B8A A transfer device capable of receiving an article (not shown) fed from a feed conveyer 20, aligning it and transferring it to another conveyer 21 or location comprises a fixed platform 1 having an aperture 2 therein, a turntable 3, means 13-16 for raising and lowering the turntable through the aperture in the platform, and means 4 for discharging the article from the platform. The articles may be sacks, bags, cartons, boxes, cases, barrels and other portable containers and the aperture in the platform is of such a size that the article will straddle the aperture. The turntable is positioned below the level of the platform when in its lowered position. The platform is provided with a low friction surface such as P.T.F.E. A shock absorbent stop 7 is provided for locating articles fed to the platform. As shown, this is linked with the turntable so that it retracks when the turntable rises. In operation, the turntable 3 rotates continuously by virtue of a drive shaft 12. A collar 11 secured to the turntable is splined for up-and-down movement relative to the shaft 12 under the action of a power cylinder 15, lever 14 and bearing wheels 13. A time relay (not shown) is operated when a sack on the conveyer 20 activates a detector. This causes energization of the cylinder 15 and operation subsequently, of the pusher 5.
