1302732 Coating with fluent solid materials F BUTLER & SON (GENERAL ENGS) Ltd 23 June 1971 [4 April 1970] 10403/70 Heading A2A [Also in Divisions B1 and B8] Material from a hopper 14, Fig. 4, is sifted by a horizontal screen 44 which is reciprocated horizontally and transverse plates 32, Fig. 3, which rest on the screen and are restrained by grooves 30 so that as the screen reciprocates the plates are tilted from side to side by a limited amount. The screen is preferably of woven wire mesh and is supported on rollers 38, Fig. 4. The screen is reciprocated by a pneumatic ram 52 or an electric motor, Fig. 6 (not shown). To drop material in a pattern, a pattern plate may be located beneath the screen.
