Abstract

1302609 Angular position encoders KOMBINAT ZENTRONIK VEB 15 May 1970 23709/70 Heading G4H [Also in Division H1] An angular position encoder comprises a fixed disc 1 having conductive surfaces 2, 3 and a rotatable disc 4 having conductive surfaces 5 so that relative rotation between the superposed discs causes variations of the capacitances C3, C4 formed by the surfaces. Alternate surfaces 2 and 3 are connected to respective conductors 9 and 8 for connection of the capacitances C3, C4 in the feedback circuit of a high frequency oscillator including an amplifier 11. As the disc 4 rotates, the capacitances C3, C4 fluctuate between maximum and minimum values to cause a variation in the feedback factor. When the ratio of the capacitance C4 to the capacitance C3 has a relatively high value, the oscillator supplies an output which is rectified and shaped to form a square pulse but when the ratio has a relatively low value the oscillator is switched off. The number of pulses supplied to an output terminal 19 therefore depends on the rotation of the disc 4.
