Abstract
1302573 Mixing liquids EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc 13 May 1970 [15 Sept 1969] 23227/70 Heading B1C [Also in Division F2] A carbonated beverage dispensing apparatus, comprises feeder and valve assemblies 12 and 10 respectively, which are releasably securable together and which when so secured afford separate and controlable flow paths for the beverage and the soda into a mixing and delivering spout 17, the spout being releasably attached to the valve assembly 10. The feeder assembly is formed with two supply ducts, only one being shown, which are closable by engagement of a ball check valve member 40 with its associated seat 44 when the feeder and valve assemblies are separated from one another. The valve assembly is formed with two projecting hollow ducts 60, only one being shown, which lead to respective valving chambers 18f and 19f with the outflow from such chambers being controlled in the first instance by electromagnetically operable valves 13 and 14 respectively, and in the second instance by throttling valves 140 and 120 respectively, the outflow from the last mentioned valves leading to the spout 17. When mounted one against the other, the projecting ducts 60 of the valve assembly 12 each enter within one of the two check valve seats 44 of the feeder assembly so causing the two check valves to be unsealed. Simultaneously, a clamping arrangement, constituted by a cam 66a on the valve assembly 10 and a spring-urged arm 70 on the feeder assembly 12, becomes operative to retain the assemblies 10 in mutual engagement. With both electromagnets actuated, as by engagement of a paper cup with a lever 15, beverage flows from chamber 19f, through throttling valve 120, which valve is adjustable relative to a housing plate 67 and has a passage 19j extending to entire length thereof, and into the spout 17. Simultaneously, soda water flows from chamber 18f, through throttling valve 140, which valve is composed of a plurality of plates 152 interposed between mutually adjustable cup-like retainers 150, 151, and into the spout 17. If desired, operation of a switch 15b overrides the compound electromagnet actuating circuit to ensure actuation of electromagnet 13 only and hence dispensing of soda water only.
