1301774 Flame treatment of films FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 22 July 1971 [29 July 1970] 34503/71 Heading B5B [Also in Divisions B2 and G2] A film or polyethylene and/or polypropylene which may be self-supporting or a coating on paper, is treated with the flame of an oxygen/ hydrocarbon gas mixture having a composition and combustion rate falling within area ABCD of Fig. 2. The hydrocarbon may be paraffinic and/or ethylenic, e.g. propane (optionally mixed with butane), methane or ethylene. The film may travel at 100-400 m./min. over a roller cooled to below 80‹ C, during treatment. The units in Fig. 2 refer to grams of gas burned per hour per cm. of flame width.
