1301658 Drivably mounting cores FRANK F PERSHKE Ltd 17 April 1970 [24 April 1969] 20999/69 Heading F2U A core gripping and releasing device comprises a cylindrical body 1 formed externally with pairs A, B, C of eccentrics, each pair engaging corresponding internal eccentrics A1, B1, Cl on a segment 2, 3, 4 shaped to clear the other pairs, the segments 2, 3, 4 combining to form an outer cylindrical surface 2a, 3a, 4a (e.g. serrated) retained resiliently (e.g. by C springs 7 or resilient rings at the segment ends), the segments being extendable and retractable radially in unison (e.g. due to pins 11 in rings 5 or dogs engaging recesses in the segment ends) to grip and release a core placed over the device. One of the pins 11 in each ring 5 may engage a stop 10 when the segments are fully retracted. Other forms shown may have segments without the grooves 8, and may have the pins 11 radial.
